From April 9 to 11, 2025, the international eTwinning seminar on Foreign Language Teaching with eTwinning brought together in Graz 55 enthusiastic teachers from 13 countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, Georgia, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Norway. Participants ranged from early childhood educators to secondary school teachers, united by a shared passion for language education and international collaboration.

The seminar kicked off with a warm and lively networking dinner on Wednesday evening. Teachers connected with colleagues based on the languages they teach—mainly English, but also Spanish, French, German, and Italian—setting the tone for two days of inspiration and cooperation.

Thursday’s agenda featured a rich mix of input and interaction. After the official opening by Ursula Panuschka (OeAD), participants enjoyed a thought-provoking and motivational keynote by Heidrun Lang-Heran on Mediation and translanguaging in foreign language teaching, presented in cooperation with the Austrian Language Competence Centre. Vesna Babaja from the Austrian eTwinning National Support Organisation provided a practical look into how eTwinning can enrich language teaching, which led into hands-on group training sessions tailored to participants’ levels of eTwinning experience.

Later that day, a buzzing project ideas fair helped teachers find like-minded partners and form international teams. The afternoon offered both a professional and a cultural highlight: a visit to the European Centre for Modern Languages, a Council of Europe institution, and a guided walking tour of Graz, followed by a traditional dinner at the restaurant Gösser Bräu.

Friday morning started playfully with a quiz on world languages, followed by video tips for enriching project activities from experienced eTwinners. The remainder of the morning was devoted to collaborative project planning – with impressive results: 18 creative eTwinning projects were presented at the end.

The seminar left participants with fresh ideas, new international contacts, and the motivation to bring language learning to life through eTwinning.
