Strengthening Mentoring in the European Solidarity Corps. Training of Trainers and Multipliers

Quality mentoring rarely spreads by itself. It spreads through people who promote it into their training courses, their teams, their organisations and their networks. The Mentoring Competence Framework is a tool to raise the quality of mentoring support in volunteering projects. It provides clear and effective guidance for mentoring practitioners in the ESC Programme.

Would you like to work with the framework in your own trainings and workshops? Would you like to support mentors to develop their mentoring practice? Would you like to encourage organisations in your national network to build and improve their mentoring support?

If you want to refine quality mentoring, strategically or practically, we invite you to join “Strengthening Mentoring in European Solidarity Corps”, a training of trainers and multipliers built around the framework.

This training course is designed for trainers, facilitators, mentors, tutors, project coordinators, project managers and members of National Agencies who are involved in European Solidarity Corps activities and would like to improve mentoring practices and mentoring support in the European Solidarity Corps Programme.

During this training, you will get familiar with the Mentoring Competence Framework and prepare to work with it in your own context: as a TEC trainer or facilitator designing learning events, as a mentor or coordinator supporting volunteers, or as a National Agency working with TEC trainers and ESC organisations.

Objectives

• Understanding the Mentoring Competence Framework
• Working with the framework and its assessment tools in practice
• Developing approaches and tools to improve mentoring with the framework in your context

A special focus of the training will be on how you can integrate the framework into your own work: your training events, your national trainer pool, your mentors’ and tutors’ networks, and the support National Agencies offer to ESC organisations.

At the end of the training, you will receive a Youthpass certificate.

The training will be preceded by a 90’ online onboarding session aimed at getting to know each other and aligning expectations and contributions, as well as building a common understanding on the outcomes.

Who can participate in this Training of Multipliers

• Trainers, facilitators, mentors, tutors, project coordinators, project managers and members of ESC National Agencies who want to bring mentoring in European Solidarity Corps (ESC) projects forward, strategically or practically
• Want to explore how the Mentoring Competence Framework can strengthen ESC mentoring
• Can communicate in English
• Are ready to actively engage in all parts of the training course

The Mentoring under Construction Community

The Mentoring under Construction Community is open for everyone who is interested in raising the quality in mentoring within the European Solidarity Corps programme (and beyond): mentors, including those who just embark into this journey and those who mentor other mentors, project managers/organisers developing and implementing volunteering projects, coordinators of volunteers, facilitators of learning, authors and trainers creating tools and resources about mentoring, and last, but not least, members of National Agencies and SALTO Resource Centres.

The Mentoring under Construction Community aims at:

• building a common understanding of key concepts around the role of a mentor (role, responsibilities, competences) as well as how to develop and implement mentoring programmes within volunteering organisations
• developing personal and professional competence to keep up with the emerging challenges in the field of mentoring
• sharing knowledge, resources and good practices
• building a vibrant network of people engaged in mentoring, ready to support one another, learn and develop.

Unless specified otherwise, the hosting NA or SALTO of this offer will organise the accommodation and covers the costs for accommodation and food.
