Erasmus+ Higher Education Cooperation Seminar Austria - Jordan
In light of current global challenges and the growing importance of strengthening international partnerships, an Erasmus+ Cooperation Seminar for Austrian and Jordanian Higher Education Institutions took place from 19 to 21 May 2026 in Vienna. The Cooperation Seminar was organized within the framework of Erasmus+ Training and Cooperation Activities (TCA).
Around 30 participants and representatives of Austrian and Jordanian higher education institutions met in Vienna for the Erasmus+ cooperation seminar, organised on the initiative of the OeAD-GmbH —Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation and the Jordanian National Erasmus+ Office (NEO).
The event was opened by Gerhard Volz, Head of International Cooperation in Higher Education at OeAD, H.E. Mohammed Hindawi, Ambassador to Austria of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Ahmad Abu-el-Haija, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office Jordan.
The aim of the seminar was to strengthen and further expand cooperation between Austria and Jordan in the field of higher education. It brought together representatives of higher education institutions from both countries, including international office staff, researchers and professors, to exchange experiences, perspectives, and good practices in international higher education cooperation.
Over the course of the first two days, participants engaged in an intensive and varied exchange. The programme focused on strengthening cooperation between Jordanian and Austrian higher education institutions through international exchange, joint education and research initiatives, and future Erasmus+ funding opportunities, particularly within International Credit Mobility, Capacity Building in Higher Education and Erasmus Mundus.
Through interactive discussions, networking formats, and project development sessions, the event created space for new partnerships and the development of concrete project ideas in higher education (and research).
The seminar was complemented by a cultural programme, including a visit to the United Nations in Vienna and a dinner reception at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. On the third day, the Jordanian delegation visited the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten, followed by a sightseeing tour in Vienna.
Participants emphasized that the seminar made a significant contribution to expanding existing networks and initiating new institutional partnerships. Feedback on the cooperation seminar particularly highlighted the intensive professional exchange:
„The event was particularly noteworthy for its excellent organisation, engaging atmosphere, and strong attendee participation. It was also highly successful in achieving its objectives, fostering positive interactions, and leaving a memorable impression on everyone involved.”
“The networking opportunities, exchange of experiences, and open discussions between Austrian and Jordanian universities were particularly valuable and successful. The seminar also created a positive environment for future cooperation and project development.”
